WeCare extends our sincerest gratitude and warm wishes to all mothers this Mother’s Day! Mother’s Day transcends beliefs, power, and battles, relying solely on what seems to be the gentlest of warmth. Yet, it is this seemingly delicate warmth that possesses the resilient power to reach across straits, touch the softest parts of our hearts, and melt the rigid ice of unreasonable rules. At WeCare, we honour and cherish the mothers who have devoted themselves to their families, putting in countless efforts in parenting and household duties, and now, it’s their time to enjoy the second spring of life.
To celebrate this meaningful occasion, WeCare organized a special Mother’s Day sushi-making class. Through this event, we aimed to give mothers a break from their daily worries and responsibilities, allowing them to enjoy the pleasure of crafting their delicious sushi. More importantly, we wanted every mother to feel cherished and loved, enjoying the creation of beautiful memories with their family.
Sushi-Making Class
Participants began arriving at 10 a.m., and after signing in, they were treated to a warm welcome tea prepared meticulously by WeCare. The hot tea and tasty pastries not only warmed their bodies but also their hearts, reflecting WeCare’s attentive care for every senior.
At 10:30 a.m., the sushi-making class officially began. Guided by WeCare staff, participants learned how to shape rice balls, enhance flavours with sushi vinegar, and roll tight sushi. Although sushi making seems simple, it involves many skills. The seniors chose ingredients based on their preferences and experimented with combinations. However, the final wrapping often presented a challenge, showing the difficulty of crafting the perfect sushi roll.
Sushi making involves not just skills but also the selection of ingredients, control of portions, and design of shapes, all of which affect the final taste. Through this activity, participants not only learned a new skill but also enjoyed a fun experience, from preparation to tasting their creations. Such events not only enrich the seniors’ festive life but also enhance their life satisfaction and social interaction.
In WeCare’s sushi-making event, seniors immersed themselves in joyful learning and practice, continuously trying and sharing their experiences. This interaction reminded many of their youthful days when they also shared meals and learned new things with friends. The atmosphere was filled with joy as participants not only savored delicious sushi and learned new techniques but also made new friends during the process.
To ensure every detail satisfied and delighted the seniors, all ingredients used in the event were carefully selected from the supermarket, ensuring the freshness and safety of the food. All preparations, including the sushi-making tools, were handled by WeCare, allowing the seniors to relax and fully enjoy the art of sushi making.
Ongoing Festivities
After the sushi making, the enthusiasm did not wane. WeCare staff organized a singing event, giving the seniors a chance to showcase their vocal talents, which added fun and engagement to the activities. Participants shared their best performances, singing and dancing to classic songs from various eras and languages. Music powerfully connected everyone, melting away any strangeness and strengthening community cohesion.
In addition to singing, WeCare also prepared a series of light and intellectually stimulating games. These games not only allowed everyone to exercise in a pleasant atmosphere but also stimulated their minds, adding fun to the seniors’ healthy lifestyles. The event concluded amidst laughter and applause, with the seniors highly praising WeCare’s thoughtful and meticulous planning, especially for this special Mother’s Day, making them feel the warmth of the holiday and WeCare’s care.
